
Diksha Parmar
(2025-present)
As a synthetic organic chemist with research interests in methodology development, Diksha’s doctoral research focuses on the synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocycles through transition-metal-catalyzed C–H activation strategies. She enjoy exploring innovative approaches to challenging chemical transformations and is passionate about advancing sustainable and efficient synthetic methods. Outside the laboratory, she enjoys trekking, exploring nature, long drives, and spending quality time with her family.

Amal Elsaleh

Returning to Wayne State as a graduate student, Amal’s research interests center on developing synthetic approaches to address challenges in human health and medicine. After graduate school, she plan to pursue a career as a patent attorney to protect and promote scientific innovation and discovery. Outside of academics, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, practicing Pilates, playing tennis, and expanding her record collection!

Dennis N. Ashong

Having obtained a masters degree in chemistry, Dennis is now interested in the synthesis of organic molecules to promote improved public amd environmental health. He plans to eventually persue a career in developing pharmaceuticals. Traveling from San Jose, California, he enjoys hiking, reading, and watching TV.

Dylan M. Sygit
(2026-present)
Dylan is interested in the synthesis and computational analysis of organic molecules that can improve community and environmetal health. After graduating with a Ph.D., he plans on persuing a career in academica at a primarily undergraduate institute. He enjoys spending time at the gym, collecting LEGOs and attending conventions.

Angela Belanger
(2026-present)
During her undergraduate career, Angela did research on Histone Deacetylase enzymes in the Pflum lab. She is applying to MD/PhD programs and plans to spend her career combining her background in enzyme research and organic synthesis to develop treatments for reproductive endocrine disorders using small-molecule inhibitors. Outside of the lab, Angela enjoys crocheting, playing the flute, and hanging out with her pets.
